Skills Programme for You
At the heart of our strategy is our vision for employment and skills across Newcastle-under-Lyme: “Developing local skills which enable more people to access higher value, better paid jobs across a wide range of priority and locally important sectors, to help deliver a diverse, inclusive and sustainable economy across Staffordshire.” Through our strong colleges and universities, we will increase the supply of higher-level technical skills and develop new skills needed by businesses in our priority sectors, with a particular focus on cross-cutting digital skills development through new state-of-the-art provision and green skills vital for the county’s net zero ambitions.
Training
The Shaping the Future Training Academy delivers employment and skills programmes built around what local employers actually need; real, practical development that gives you a genuine edge in the job market.
NSCG Technical Innovation Support
In partnership with Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG), the Technical Innovation Support programme provides access to specialist technical education, innovation resources and industry-connected skills development.
The Digital Economy
The Digital Initiative programme runs practical training sessions in community spaces across the borough, covering everything from basic digital literacy to AI, data and the emerging technologies.
Supporting Care Leavers
Through our care leavers programme, we work directly with young people aged 16 to 25 who have experienced the care system, providing the skills, confidence, employer connections and practical pathways they need to move into education, employment or training.
